A blended approach of individual learning and instructor-led live sessions, all hosted on Mental Health First Aid England’s online learning hub. This course has been adapted from the classroom version and has the same learning outcomes, training you up to be a Youth Mental Health First Aider.

The Course Consists Of: 

Individual learning: based on a combination of short films, reading and activities. These can be done at your own pace in advance of each live session on the online learning hub. There are 4 individual learning modules (total time: approximately 5.5 hours).

Live sessions: led by experienced Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor Kate Houghton. Please note, the live sessions can not be recorded or repeated so it is essential that you attend every session. You require a computer with a webcam, microphone and a stable internet connection. There are 4 instructor-led live sessions (total time: approximately 10 hours)

You will receive (by post) a manual and workbook as well as an e-certificate on completion of the course.

Outcomes:

  • An in-depth understanding of young people’s mental health and factors that affect wellbeing
  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues 
  • Confidence to reassure and support a young person in distress
  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening 
  • Knowledge to help a young person recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s through self-help sites, their place of learning, the NHS, or a mix – engaging with parents, carers and external agencies where appropriate
  • Ability to support a young person with a long term mental health issue or disability to thrive
  • Tools to look after your own mental wellbeing

Prices

Cost of qualification: £250 + VAT. You will receive approximately 15 hours of learning time, high quality resources as well as remote individual support from a highly qualified instructor. This course is valued by MHFA England at £300.
